Halfway Through My 20's

Last Thursday was my 25th birthday and I had a wonderful day. I spent the day with family and friends eating and laughing. I got amazing gifts like a Clarisonic Mia 2, an Ipod Classic, a University of Houston car decal, an amazing photo album, tons of cool Hello Kitty memorabilia, teacher goodies and tickets to see M83!! I am truly blessed and I look forward to an amazing year.

I went to lunch with my mom at a restaurant we heard about on a local television show. Sweet Paris was amazing! I ordered the Truffle Oil Caprese crepe and it was splendid! I can't wait to go back and try their sweet crepes. If you live in Houston you should stop by Sweet Paris in Rice Village.

Thursday night I celebrated by going out to eat sushi at Crave Sushi in Midtown and then going to a drive-in movie. Yes I said drive-in!! For six dollars my friends and I got to see two movies. We talked through Ice Age and then watched The Amazing Spiderman.

Watch Me Eat Wednesday

I know I have been slacking on my food post but I have come bearing gifts!

Over the weekend I went to the Farmer' Market and got some fresh veggies and I had to stop at El Bolillo Bakery for some Tres Leche Cake.

Grilled Eggplant with Tomato and Feta

recipe
While I was at the Farmer's Market I picked up some eggplant and hit up Pinterest to find a recipe. I love finding recipes that are simple and easy like this one. The eggplant combined with tomato, feta and basil is amazing! If you enjoy eggplant I suggest this recipe.

Roasted cauliflower, Manchurian-style

So I believe that cauliflower is broccoli's big brother. As a kid and a teenager I hated cauliflower but since then I have grown to love cauliflower and I kind of cheat on broccoli with it. If you do not care for cauliflower then you will probably love this recipe because it is freaking amazing!

I have been dying to wear this outfit and I finally got the chance last night. I went out with my friend Melody and had a wonderful time dancing and exploring the ever changing Midtown. I'm not going to lie; I totally felt like I was going to trip over my skirt all night but alas I didn't!

The GM Diet

Hey guys! I have been over indulging a bit this summer and put on a bit too much weight. Next Saturday I am in a wedding and I decided I need to try and slim down a bit to feel better about myself and look good in my dress. So Sunday I started The GM Diet after a friend old him how well it worked for her. I did the vegetarian version of the diet but if you are interested in trying the other version please visit there website

Day One: Only Fruits (no bananas)

To start the GM diet I decided to buy a fruit tray from the grocery store and munch away at it all day. It is recommend to eat more melon thans any other fruit because they are mainly water. The first day was pretty easy for me because I enjoy fruit.

Day Two: Veggies

Total Pounds Lost: 1.8

I started day two with Odwalla 100% carrot juice and after drinking it I felt like I drank "go-go juice" ! On day two you are supposed to stuff yourself full of veggies including a backed potato. I did have a bit of trouble on day two due to some sweet cravings after dinner but besides that day two was easy.

Day Three: Fruits and Veggies

Total Pounds Lost: 2.4

I spent the majority of this day drinking Naked juices which kept me full until late afternoon. Then I had salad and fruit for dinner. This day was easy for me.

Day Four: Bananas and Milk

Total Pounds Lost: 2.4 (no change)

Day four was the hardest day for me. On day four you are supposed to eat bananas and drink a class of milk with every banana you eat. You can also have vegetable soup for lunch and dinner. Day four was difficult because I just felt like I could not get full.

Day Five: Feast Day

Total Pounds Lost: 3.6

Day five is called a feast day because you are going to feel stuffed. You have to eat at least 6 tomatoes and drink 12 glasses of water. You also get to have brown rice. I added honey to my rice in the morning and herbs and red pepper to my rice for lunch and dinner.

Day Six: Vegetable Day

Total Pounds Lost: 5.6 Oh Yeah!!!

Day six you get to have another cup of rice and vegetables. On day six I was feeling bored with the diet. Yes I was down five pounds but I was missing beans and bread (which I rarely eat).

Day Seven: Rice, Fruit Juice, All You can Eat Veggies

Total Pounds Lost: 5.6 (no change)

Today is day seven and I plan on drinking another carrot juice and chowing down on veggies all day. Tomorrow I will let you guys know what I think about the diet and how much I actually lost.

Wish me luck :)

A Gift To Myself

I am pretty positive all of you have heard the term Y.O.L.O by now... If not it stands for you only live once. I keep seeing my friends on Facebook referencing the term and I always thought it was kind of silly. I told you guys I am not exactly excited about turning 25 and I have been searching for ways to get excited about it. Well I came up with an idea! I am going to spend the next couple of days doing pretty much what I want. So if I see a purse I want I'm just going to buy it...with in reason of course.

I decided to buy a Modern Willis Bag from Coach. While I was in Canada I kept wishing I had a bigger crossbody and I started searching. I am so happy I found this bag mainly because it is timeless and it is actually really roomy inside.

Crazy for Canada

Well guys I made it back from Toronto late last night and I could not wait to tell you all about my trip! I took tons of pictures but I decided to show you guys pictures of things I loved about Toronto and Canada in general.

Great Views

It was pretty evident once my Mother and I crossed the boarder that Canada was going to be beautiful. Any time I travel somewhere new I always check and see if the city has a hop on hop off tour and lucky me Toronto has one! I use the tour as a way to see the city (sitting down) and get great pictures. Toronto's hop on hop off tour offered a great boat tour which was a highlight.  I recommend the sightseeing tour to anyone unfamiliar with Toronto but I will warn you that the tour bus drivers move through the sights a bit fast so you have to be quick with your camera.
Left to Right: The CN Tower, Toronto Harbor, Dundas Square

Yummy Food

You guys know how much I love food and Toronto totally delivers in the food department.  I would love to visit Toronto again just to try more restaurants. I had some wonderful seafood and fresh fruit and veggies. I took pictures of all my meals but these were my favorites.

Top Left: Crab Salad Sandwich Bottom Left: Caesar Salad (yes a normal simple dish but when done right it can be amazing!) Top Right: Salmon and Sun-dried Tomato Risotto Bottom Right: Crab Ravioli

St. Lawrence Market

St. Lawrence Market was by far my favorite place in Toronto. I am so bummed I was not in the city on the weekend to see the Farmer's Market. St. Lawrence Market offered millions (yes millions) of fresh products ranging from cupcakes to seafood to wine. I loved the market so much I had to vist twice! St. Lawrence Market is a must do for anyone visiting Toronto.

Roaming Around

I stated before that I was in Toronto during the week so this could be different on the weekends but I felt like Toronto was an easy city to navigate. I used my cell phone most of the time whenever I was in an unfamiliar area and I felt like I could stop and check street signs freely without feeling rushed by locals passing by. I also felt like I could stop on the street and take pictures without feeling like everyone around me was aware that I was a tourist. People in Toronto seemed kind and carefree and I really enjoyed that.

 Niagara Falls

I feel like Niagara Falls speaks for itself. I took over 50 pictures of this breathtaking wonder of the world and I just can't  seem to find one that really shows how truly amazing it is.

Maid of the Mist

Now I said St. Lawrence Market was my favorite thing in Toronto however the Maid of the Mist was my favorite thing in Canada! I can not think of a single reason why someone would not take this opportunity if they have it. I mean under 20 dollars to get an up close and personal experience with the Falls! My clothing did not get wet because I was wearing a spiffy blue pancho but my legs and face were soaked. It is important to know that the you go directly in front of the falls so make sure to cover anything you dont want soaked. I did not take many pictures while on the boat because I was afraid to get my camera wet however my mom and several people around me kept their cameras out.

Packed and Ready for Canada

I'm sure some of my friends are looking at the above picture and wondering if I did this by myself. Guys I am a horrible, horrible packer. I am the person that brings twenty outfits and then I forget my bras or something else essential. I wanted to show you guys how I packed this time so that I am sure I have everything I need and nothing I don't.

My friend Tiffany used the plastic bag method a year ago when we went to Washington DC and I laughed at her. Well the joke was on me because I ended up having to go out and buy something because I forgot something I needed. This time I made sure to try on every single outfit so that I knew what I needed for it. Inside of the bag I put my accessories I need and any undergarments. That way I can just grab a bag and get dressed in the morning.

Last year I ordered a lunch box from Thirty-One and it came out wrong. They let me keep the bag and sent me the right one; but I didn't know what to do with my flawed bag. I decided it would make a great make up bag for traveling. I can just grab the handel and head to the bathroom. Plus it's huge!

I make sure to always travel with a huge bag so I can stuff my blanket and Ipad inside. I packed a smaller bag for walking around Toronto.

What's In My Bag

Camera
Baby Lips
Sun Glasses inside pouch
Keys
Anti-Bacterial
Bose Noise Canceling Headphones
An old Wallet- I like to travel with an older wallet because I know it won't be filled with important papers and change that would be in my normal wallet. All I have inside is my passport, driver license, cash and debit card.

Birthday Wish List

So guys my 25th birthday is approaching and I am not exactly excited about it. I guess I just thought I would enter my mid-twenties with my life a little more "together". I am trying to spend this month doing things that I really want to do even if I have to do them alone. I figured throughout the month I would give myself little birthday presents but I would love to share my wish list with you guys.

I have gone through so many Ipods in the last 7 years that it is sort of sad. I lost my Ipod touch while I was in Dallas two weeks ago so I am in need of something to house all my music. I'm excited about the Ipod classic because it holds 40,000!!

I have wanted a Clarasonic forever and hopefully this year I will get a Clarasonic Mia .
I need a University of Houston car decal so I can rep my school forever and always!

Watch Me Eat Wednesday

First off I want to wish you guys a happy Forth of July!! So far I have celebrated America's birthday by sleeping, taking a long bath and cooking. I am really excited about this Watch Me Eat Wednesday because I loved everything I made.

Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Cookies

These cookies were super yummy however they were a bit too soft. When I make them again I will be sure to bake them for a bit longer.

Grilled cabbage with Worcestershire dressing

I was a bit leery about this recipe because I wasn't sure it would be flavorful however it was AMAZING!!! Guys this is something I will make over and over again and I think its a must try.

Grilled Chicken Kebabs

First of all these babies were so juicy and flavorful; second they were so easy to grill and third I am in love with them! If you guys plan on grilling anytime soon you have to try these!

Sarasota Lemonade

Any drink that features Moscato is ok with me and throw in some fresh fruit and it's a party!
