Birthday Wish List

So guys my 25th birthday is approaching and I am not exactly excited about it. I guess I just thought I would enter my mid-twenties with my life a little more "together". I am trying to spend this month doing things that I really want to do even if I have to do them alone. I figured throughout the month I would give myself little birthday presents but I would love to share my wish list with you guys.

I have gone through so many Ipods in the last 7 years that it is sort of sad. I lost my Ipod touch while I was in Dallas two weeks ago so I am in need of something to house all my music. I'm excited about the Ipod classic because it holds 40,000!!

I have wanted a Clarasonic forever and hopefully this year I will get a Clarasonic Mia .
I need a University of Houston car decal so I can rep my school forever and always!

Sweet Like Cinnamon

I cannot stop listening to this song! I love LDR's entire CD but this song just makes me so happy. It makes me think of summers back in high school!

Since we are talking about high school...this song reminds me of my besties back then.

Month In Review: January

The first month of the year did not exactly go by at warped speed. If January is any indication of how my year will be then I am in for some major high points and some interesting lows. Here are a few things I did not get a chance to talk about this month.

I discovered the Texans Grill! Which is a wonderful sports bar. I went twice to watch Texans games when they were in the playoffs.

I got these lovely flats from Steve Madden!

The Outfit
Shirt- Forever 21
Sweater- Banana Republic (last season)
Jeans-Zara
shoes- Steve Madden via DSW

 The Outfit
Shirt- American Eagle

I found these bracelets at Target over the weekend.

My new favorite things!!
I love playing Scramble With Friends it is basically a word search you play with friends.

I am all kinds of crazy for Lana Del Rey! Her album is LOVE!

I have been having a hard time following asleep lately. I have started to use a lavender scented candle  20 minutes before bed.

#02. The Weeknd
When I sat down to make this list I knew I would feature The Weeknd. I even knew he would be extremely high on the list. What I didn't know was how people would feel about him being number 2. I could talk about The Weeknd for hours because he is just that amazing but I will just let you see for yourself.

The Weeknd- Wicked Games

The Weeknd- High For This

The Weeknd-Loft Music

And because I love The Weeknd and you guys I have a present for you!

Here is a copy of his first mixtape House of Balloons.

#04. Dubstep Went Mainstream
I am well aware that Dubstep is not a "new thing" but before 2011 it was pretty much an underground thing. I became familiar with Dubstep while watching a British television show called Skins a few years ago.
This is an example of what Dubstep sounds like
(Excision and Datsik - Guess I Got My Swagger Back)
Traditional Dubstep is not for everyone but back in 2009 Britney Spears brought Dubstep to Pop music.
(Freakshow- Britney Spears )
Here are a few songs from 2011 that feature Dubstep
(Red lipstick- Rihanna)

(Dub on the Track- Cher Lloyd)

And the most popular mainstream use of Dubstep
(Who Gone Stop Me- Jay-Z and Kanye West)
And the best thing about Dubstep it can take a song I hated and make me love it!

#05. Rihanna
Rihanna didn't do anything particularly amazing this year, however she just looked so damn good! Rihanna is the kind of celebrity that can get an outfit completely wrong but she always looks so flawless in it. She is just so pretty!

Open Letter

Last night I spent some time surfing around youtube and I came across this video.
The video is an open letter to Lil Wayne where three elementary school age girls question him. In the video the girls reference several other celebrities that they feel are better role models. I have a one huge issue with this video. Lil Wayne never asked to be a role model for elementary school age girls. Lil Wayne is allowed to speak however he wants in his music because he is a grown man. I take issue with the girls' parents for allowing the girls to listen to his music. These days parents have the luxury of choosing several different artist for their children to listen to that are age appropriate. When I was 9 and 10 years old I never knew what inappropriate rap songs sounded like because my parents did not play them. I also find it extremely hard to believe that these children came up with the idea for this video on their own and recorded it alone. I think these girls parents should let these girls be children and stop worrying about how people like Lil Wayne effect their kids.
